  • A Town sign permit is required for all permanent signs, including freestanding and wall.  In general, freestanding signs may be 25' tall and 50 sq. ft. in size, while wall signs can be 8% of the front facade area and 3% of the sides and rear.  For further details, please check the Irmo Zoning Ordinance.

    In addition to a Town sign permit, a permit may be required from CC&I, the Town's third-party inspection service.  Contact CC&I for details.

    The Town sign permit has a $50 fee.

    Wall signs may be 8% of the front facade area and 3% of other building faces in the general commercial zones. In other zones, additional signs are permitted on walls facing a street.

    General Commercial & Light Manufacturing zones: 25' tall, 50 sf per side (50' tall along I-26) Neighborhood Commercial, Office Commercial, Agriculture, and Institutional: 12' tall and 20 sf per side (6' tall for institutional in residential districts. Changeable Copy no more than 50% of sign size, electronic message centers only permitted in the General Commercial and Light Manufacturing zones.
